New Økern School’s Green Roofs

Blowing Solution from Glasopor for Efficient Installation at Heights

During the construction of the new school, kindergarten, and multi-purpose hall at New Økern School, Glasopor was utilized as a lightweight fill material on the green roofs — but with a twist: the material was installed using Glasopor’s specialized blowing solution

Using the blowing solution, the foam glass was transported to the roof with blowing trucks and blown directly into the roof structure. This made it possible to deliver and place large quantities of material quickly, precisely and without the need for heavy crane or machine transport — an important point in urban areas with limited space and logistical challenges.

In sum, the Glasopor 10-20+ blowing solution contributed to the realization of the green roof of Nye Økern School in a way that combined sustainability, technical quality and practical implementation — and demonstrated how modern, circular infill materials can be integrated into complex construction projects with high environmental and functional requirements.

“We are well underway at Økern School. On the agenda, among other things, is blowing Glasopor up onto the roofs, before constructing the

beautiful outdoor facilities. We are executing this project as a joint venture with SL Stenlegging AS.”
