Foamit Glass Recycling furthers the circular economy by implementing and developing sustainable glass recycling.
We collect and receive glass waste, then process and sell it as a raw material for industry and the production of Foamit foam glass aggregate, which is used for infrastructure and building construction.
By returning discarded glass to productive use, we help conserve virgin natural resources and support a more resource-efficient circular economy.
From glass waste to new raw materials
Collected glass is processed, cleaned and sorted at Foamit’s recycling facility in Forssa, Finland. The resulting recycled glass fractions are supplied to manufacturers of new glass products, including container glass, flat glass and glass wool.
Glass fractions that cannot be used in conventional glass production can be utilised in the manufacture of Foamit foam glass aggregate. This integrated model enables Foamit to create value from different glass streams and keep materials in circulation.
Glass streams
The glass processed by Foamit includes:
- container glass, such as bottles and jars
- flat glass from construction and the glass industry
- windscreens and other automotive glass
- selected glass streams from healthcare and industry
Supporting circular economy
- Materials remain in use: Collected glass is returned to production as recycled raw material.
- Virgin resources are conserved: Recycled glass replaces the need for newly extracted raw materials.
- Industrial side streams are utilised: Suitable recycling side streams are used to manufacture Foamit foam glass.
- Recycling solutions are tailored to customers: Collection and logistics can be adapted to different volumes and operating environments.
